More Than Just Work

Somewhere along the journey, work quietly became my entire life.

After years of working independently, I've come to understand my own way of working.

Long-distance driving became second nature.

Travelling alone from city to city no longer felt unfamiliar.

Meetings, site visits, sourcing trips, supplier appointments, and client discussions gradually became part of an everyday routine.

Over time, I developed my own rhythm.

Whenever possible, I tried to finish meetings and site visits by late afternoon.

Around five o'clock, I would sit somewhere quietly and review the day—thinking through what went well, what could have been handled differently, and what needed attention tomorrow.

By evening, while traffic slowly faded, I would find a place to rest before continuing the day's final tasks.

Invoices.

Quotations.

Supplier orders.

Project updates.

Messages to clients.

Preparing for tomorrow.

Looking back now, I realise that every hour of my day belonged to work.

Perhaps that's the reality of running a one-person studio.

When you're the designer, project manager, purchaser, administrator, accountant, and customer service representative all at once, the line between work and life slowly disappears.

Somewhere along the way, friendships became less frequent.

Weekends became workdays.

Rest started to feel like something that needed permission.

For a long time, I believed this was simply the price of building something on my own.

But today, I see things differently.

Life isn't only about working harder.

It's also about creating space to grow, connect with people, and enjoy the moments between projects.

Maybe that's why I'm ready for change.

Not because I love design any less.

But because I want to experience it differently.

Working alongside a team.

Sharing ideas instead of carrying everything alone.

Making room for friendships, new routines, and a healthier balance between creativity and life.

Sometimes, a small change in the way we work can completely change the way we live.

And perhaps that's exactly the kind of surprise life has been waiting to offer.
